Athens is probably the single European capital where it takes you less than 30 minutes from the vibrant city center to get either to the beach or to the mountains. It takes less than 2 hours drive from the capital to reach places that have both archeological or historical interest and exceptional natural surroundings such as Sounio, Nafplio or Delphi. Hydra, Spetses, Aegina and Poros - four small and picturesque islands of the Saronic Gulf - are also ideal for daily tours, since there is a regular service from the port of Piraeus every day.

This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. We will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop). We will then continue and pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma).

We will visit the Acropolis hill where the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens stand: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally, the Parthenon a monument that "puts order in the mind" and where harmony between material and spirit is at its most potent and fascinating manifestation.

Then we will continue to visit the place where at last the statues of the Parthenon found their home and to admire the wonders of the classical era: The new Acropolis museum.

In order to visit Cape Sounion we will drive along the coastal road of Attica Region, past the wonderful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza to the most southern point of Attica. Cape Sounion is the furhest point of Attica where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Posseidon stand. On the way you have a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf and the little islands offshore. Apart form its historical importance Sounion offers the most breath taking views in the Attica region. After visiting the Temple of Posseidon, you have time to walk at leisure on the rocky promontory of Sounion. Late in the afternoon you will have the opportunity to enjoy the majestic sunset which paints the landscape and the ancient ruins with wonderful colours.

On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios. We will visit the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Museum which houses such masterpieces of ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias. Lunch will be served at a taverna in Delphi. We will return to Athens in the early evening.

In the morning we will take you by bus from your hotel and we will take you from Athens to Piraeus for your embarkation to the cruise boat. We will depart for the island of Hydra at 08.30 hrs, and our expected arrival time is 11.45 hrs. There will be free time for a walk through the narrow pathways of the island and have the opportunity to do window shopping at the local pretty shops. At 13.30 hrs, embarkation and sail for Aegina past through the picturesque island of Poros and the Peloponnese seashore. Lunch will be served on board during the voyage. At 15.30 hrs, we arrive at Aegina the biggest island of the Saronic Gulf with the 3.000 years of history, beautiful landscapes and golden beaches. There you will have time for leisure. We will embark for our return voyage to the Pireaus port at 18.00 hrs.
